What an actual team looks like.
This is our recommended starting team: a tech lead and four senior engineers, recruited to your stack and working inside your product organisation. Five is the smallest team we have found works well for long-term product development: enough capacity, shared context and mutual support to deliver well, and a strong base to grow from. A few years ago the number would have been higher; AI tooling now lets a team this size cover more.
A dedicated development team, not a project or a bench.
We're not engaged for a single deliverable. Our engineers join your team the way a new hire does, they work the roadmap, ship the projects on it, and carry the context forward to the next one.
Bench-based staff augmentation and project outsourcing are structured differently. TwinTeams recruits engineers specifically for your product and assigns each to one customer. The people you interview are recruited to stay with the roadmap across quarters, so product knowledge accumulates within the team.

CTO, founder, recruiter, or investor.
The service is the same. The reasons for building a team vary depending on whether you lead engineering, build the product as a founder, advise clients, or support portfolio companies.

What is a dedicated development team?
A team of senior engineers recruited for one customer and retained long term. They work inside your codebase, to your standards and roadmap. At TwinTeams that means five engineers minimum, twelve months minimum, and each engineer works for one customer.
How is this different from staff augmentation?
Bench-based staff augmentation can fill seats from shared supplier capacity, with continuity tied to the seat rather than named engineers. TwinTeams recruits a dedicated team for you, and each engineer works only for your company, so product knowledge accumulates within the team.
How is this different from project outsourcing?
A project outsourcing agency is engaged to deliver a defined scope and hand it over. TwinTeams builds a team that works your continuing roadmap and carries product context from one project to the next.
Who manages the team day to day?
You direct the work: roadmap, priorities, standards. We run recruitment, employment, payroll, equipment, and support.
What happens when it ends?
A defined close-out: we hand over a working team's context, or you acquire the team.
Start with one question: what are you building?
Then tell us when you need the team working. We will help you find the development roles your product needs.
